Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?

Image: Rockstar Games
No — not at launch, and not on any published schedule. Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. It has not announced a PC version: no date, no release window, and no statement that one is planned. If you play on PC, there is nothing to pre-order and nothing with a date on it to wait for. Everything below is the context around that answer.
What Rockstar and Take-Two Have Actually Published
Two official pages carry the platform information, and they agree with each other.
Rockstar's own game site at rockstargames.com/VI carries the release date — "Coming November 19, 2026" — beside a platform line reading PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The same page adds a "Plays Best On PlayStation 5" label, a distinction Rockstar draws between the two announced consoles without saying anywhere what it means in practice.
Take-Two's pre-order press release of June 24, 2026 says the same thing in the register a publicly traded company uses for material product facts. The game is "Launching November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems for $79.99." That release also names where it will be sold — the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and global retailers and storefronts — and no PC platform appears anywhere in it.
That is the entire published platform record. For the full release-date and pre-order picture, see our GTA 6 release date, editions and pre-order guide.

"Not Announced" Is Not the Same as "Not Coming"
It is worth being precise here, because these two get collapsed together constantly.
Rockstar has not said a PC version is coming. Rockstar has also not said one is not coming. The absence of an announcement is a fact about what Rockstar has published, not a fact about what Rockstar is doing internally, and this site will not convert one into the other. Anyone telling you GTA VI is definitely coming to PC, or definitely never coming, is describing something that has not been published — and that goes double for anyone quoting a specific PC release date or window, because no such date appears on any Rockstar or Take-Two page. Keeping the announced apart from the assumed is the organising principle of everything Rockstar has put on the record.
The GTA V Precedent Is History, Not a Forecast
The reason so many people expect a PC version is a real, documented sequence of events — but it is the history of a different game, and it is offered here as precedent only.
Grand Theft Auto V's own timeline, entirely from Rockstar and Take-Two's publishing:
- September 17, 2013 — Take-Two announces GTA V is available worldwide for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No PC version, and none announced.
- June 9, 2014 — Rockstar's Newswire announces GTA V is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. That is roughly nine months after the console launch.
- April 14, 2015 — Rockstar's Newswire runs "Grand Theft Auto V Is Now Available for PC," detailing resolutions up to 4K, 60 frames per second, more than 25 configurable graphics settings, and the debut of the Rockstar Editor. Roughly nineteen months after the console launch.
That is what happened to one previous Grand Theft Auto. It is not a schedule, not a pattern Rockstar has committed to, and not a basis for calculating when GTA VI might reach PC — this guide will not do that arithmetic, because the result would be a number Rockstar never published.
What that history does tell you, usefully, is where an announcement would appear. Both the GTA V PC announcement and its release ran on Rockstar's own Newswire. If a GTA VI PC version is ever announced, that is where it will be, alongside the game's own pages on rockstargames.com.
The Rockstar Games Store Listing Is Not a PC Signal
This detail misleads people, so it is worth taking apart.
Take-Two's release says GTA VI will be sold at the Rockstar Games Store — and the Rockstar Games Store is, in every other case, where Rockstar sells PC games. Its store menu lists GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Red Dead Redemption and Bully: Scholarship Edition, and the GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 pages both open with "Select Platform: Rockstar Games Launcher," which is Rockstar's PC launcher.
The GTA VI page on that same store does not follow the pattern. Rockstar's GTA V store page carries two full sets of PC system requirements; the Red Dead Redemption 2 page carries one. The GTA VI page carries none. What it carries instead is a release date, a Compare Editions panel, a list of supported languages, and a physical "code-in-box" version containing a download code rather than a disc — and its Ultimate Edition upgrade note points buyers at the PlayStation Store.
So GTA VI appearing on the Rockstar Games Store means Rockstar is selling console copies through its own storefront. It is not a PC listing, and it should not be read as one.

Should You Buy a Console Now, or Wait for PC?
Put honestly, a PC-only player's question is not "wait or buy." There is no dated PC release to wait for. The real question is whether to buy a console in order to play on November 19, 2026, or to accept not playing at launch. Three things make that decision more concrete.
Nothing published carries a console purchase over to a PC version. Rockstar has announced no cross-buy, no paid upgrade path, and no save transfer between platforms for GTA VI. GTA V's generational move did let players transfer their GTA Online characters and progression to their choice of PS4, Xbox One or PC — but that was online progression, and Take-Two's GTA VI announcement describes a single-player experience, with no online mode announced. There is no published equivalent to carry across, so a console copy bought now should be assumed to stay on that console.
The only deadline in the offer belongs to console buyers. The Vintage Vice City Pack is included with all pre-orders and with any purchase made before November 20, 2026, and digital pre-orders can begin pre-loading on November 12. That deadline can only be met by buying a console version, because those are the only versions — so it is not a reason for a PC-only player to buy hardware. Our editions comparison covers what is and is not worth paying extra for once you have decided to buy.
Both impatient bets rest on unpublished information. Buying a console specifically because you have concluded no PC version is coming, and holding off specifically because you have concluded one is, are the same mistake pointed in opposite directions. The defensible version of this decision is the boring one: buy a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S if it is worth owning to you on its own terms, and treat playing GTA VI at launch as one reason among several rather than a wager on an unannounced roadmap.

What Is Still Unknown
Stated plainly, so that nothing above reads as more settled than it is. Rockstar has not published: whether a PC version is in development at all; any PC release date or window; any PC system requirements; which PC storefronts would carry one; any cross-platform purchase, upgrade or save-transfer arrangement; or what the "Plays Best On PlayStation 5" label means as a technical matter.
This page will be revised if Rockstar's Newswire or its own GTA VI pages say otherwise. Until then the answer to the headline question is the one at the top: announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, not announced for PC.
