Is GTA 6 Coming to Xbox Game Pass or PS Plus?

Image: Rockstar Games
No — nobody has announced one. Rockstar Games, Take-Two, Microsoft and Sony have each published Grand Theft Auto VI as a game you buy: $79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate, launching November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Not one of those pages mentions Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. What they do mention is GTA+, and that is a different thing entirely.
Four Official Pages, One Answer
Every company involved in selling this game has its own GTA VI page, and they agree.
Rockstar's site at rockstargames.com/VI carries "Coming November 19, 2026" above a platform line reading PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, beside a Pre-Order Now button. Take-Two's investor release of June 24, 2026 states the game is "Launching November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems for $79.99," with the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, and names where it will be sold: the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and global retailers and storefronts.
Microsoft's own page lists GTA VI under Xbox Series X|S with a release date of November 19, 2026 and a "Get the game" panel carrying three prices — $79.99 for the Standard Edition, $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, and $20.00 for the Ultimate Edition Upgrade. Sony's page lists the game as available on PS5 and PS5 Pro Enhanced at the same two prices, with Pre-Order buttons.
Four pages, four purchase flows, no subscription tier anywhere on any of them. That is the entire published record. Those four pages answer more than this one question, and our rundown of everything those pages establish works through the rest of them.

The Free Month of GTA+ Is Not Game Pass, and Not PS Plus
This single detail is where almost all of the confusion starts, so it is worth taking apart slowly.
Take-Two's release says all pre-orders and purchases before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack, "alongside a free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders," which is "instantly redeemable so that players can jump into Grand Theft Auto V and other classic Rockstar titles as part of the GTA+ Games Library."
Skimmed, that reads as "free month of a subscription with GTA VI," which sounds like a platform deal. It is not one:
- GTA+ is Rockstar's own subscription. It is not Microsoft's, and not Sony's.
- It does not contain GTA VI. What it gives you is GTA Online benefits and a library of older Rockstar games.
- The order runs the wrong way. You buy Grand Theft Auto VI at full price, and the free GTA+ month is something that purchase gets you — not a route to playing GTA VI without buying it.
What GTA+ Actually Is
Rockstar's GTA+ page describes it in its own words as "The premium Membership for GTA Online players," available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Rockstar's store lists it at $7.99 a month with the Rockstar Games Launcher selected, and notes that memberships "auto-renew monthly at the regular monthly price until canceled."
The part that gets mistaken for Game Pass is the GTA+ Games Library. Rockstar's store describes it as access to "download and play a rotating assortment of classic Rockstar Games titles for as long as they're included in GTA+," and lists Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption, GTA: Vice City – The Definitive Edition and GTA III – The Definitive Edition as included. Rockstar's own GTA+ page carries a longer roster, adding GTA Online, Bully, L.A. Noire, the Definitive Edition Trilogy, Liberty City Stories and Chinatown Wars. Rockstar's FAQ includes an entry headed "What happens when a game that is included with GTA+ is leaving?", which tells you the roster is not fixed.
So it is a rotating games library on a monthly fee — superficially Game-Pass-shaped, operated by Rockstar, and Grand Theft Auto VI is not among its titles.

Why the Mix-Up Is Reasonable
Two things make this genuinely easy to get wrong.
First, the billing. Rockstar's own legal footnote states that "GTA+ subscription on consoles is available via Microsoft Store or PlayStation Store." A console player subscribing to GTA+ therefore pays Microsoft or Sony, on the same storefront — often the same billing screen — that sells Game Pass and PS Plus. The money moves through the platform holder. The service is still Rockstar's.
Second, Sony's GTA VI page prints "1-month GTA+ subscription with pre-order. Auto-renews." directly beside the $79.99 price. Its FAQ then spells out the mechanics: pre-order the digital version from PlayStation Store before November 20, 2026, visit the GTA+ product page, and complete the transaction at no extra cost. Sony adds that the on-screen instructions "will make it clear on what date your one month of GTA+ will continue into a paid monthly subscription," that the offer must be claimed by March 31, 2027, that it can be claimed once per account, that an existing subscriber has the month added to their current subscription, and that several country stores are excluded.
That is worth reading twice. The free month rolls into a paid subscription unless you cancel it — a real consequence, published on Sony's page rather than in any advertisement. Our pre-order bonuses guide covers the rest of what a pre-order does and does not get you.
"Not Announced" Is Not "Never"
Precision matters here, because these two get collapsed constantly.
None of the four companies has said Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to a subscription service. None has said it never will. The absence of an announcement is a fact about what has been published, not a fact about anyone's internal plans, and this site will not convert one into the other. Anyone quoting you a date for GTA VI on Game Pass or PS Plus is describing something that appears on no Rockstar, Take-Two, Microsoft or Sony page.
It is also fair to observe — as reasoning, explicitly, and not as reporting — that a brand-new $79.99 flagship arriving day-one on a subscription service would be unusual against how the industry has generally behaved. That is an inference about business norms, not information about this game, and it should not be dressed up as either a source or a prediction. What can be said from the record is narrower: Take-Two describes GTA VI as "a single-player experience," Sony's FAQ repeats that, and the recurring subscription Rockstar has actually attached to the launch is GTA+, sold separately.

What Is Still Unknown
Stated plainly, so nothing above reads as more settled than it is. No company has published: whether GTA VI will ever appear on Game Pass, PS Plus or any other subscription service; any date or window for such a release; any trial, cloud-streaming or timed-demo arrangement for the game; any bundle pairing GTA VI with a subscription beyond the single free GTA+ month attached to digital pre-orders; or whether GTA VI will join the GTA+ Games Library at any point after launch.
What has been published is the purchase. If you intend to play on November 19, 2026, you buy it — our editions comparison covers the gap between $79.99 and $99.99, does GTA 6 come on a disc? explains what the boxed version actually contains, and is GTA 6 coming to PC? answers the other platform question with the same shape of answer.
This page will be revised if Rockstar's Newswire, Xbox or PlayStation publishes otherwise.
